Reflections

This has been a real downer week at work.  Not because of anything at the  facility, I love all those guys, and the job.  What is interfering with the job is stuff over which I have no control, and I am feeling consumed by it.  No matter.  Tonight I walked, and made the decision to go to the temple to help get my head on straight. It partially worked.  Well, I guess it would be better to say that it did work.  I always feel refreshed when I go.  For those who are not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and may not understand what I mean, let me just briefly explain. Of course the usual disclaimers about me representing me, and only me,  definitely not the church, which is how I will refer, rather than fully spelling out the name. Members of the church attend weekly services in church buildings that are open to all.  We have a lay clergy, and during our main meeting, people from the congregation have been ass...

Do you remember?

Today, I am reflecting on August 7, 2011.  On that date, the Paola Ward had a new Bishop called.  Bishop Jeremiah Allen.  I was humbled to be called as one of his counselors, along with Wes Fields. I should have known something was afoot after spending time at scout camp chatting it up with then Brother Allen, Executive Secretary.  In all fairness, I am not sure he knew at the time what was coming. That morning was brutally hot in the chapel, as the AC was out, and it was one of the hottest days that I can remember.  All the doors were open, fans were running.  I remember that, as I had ditched the long coat, and conducted the music in my vest.  It was announced that there would be no meetings after the Sacrament Meeting. The Bishopric was released, and  the new one called.  Each bore testimony.  Towards the end of the meeting, The AC kicked on, and meetings were held, and the day went on.
