Our Father's Message for us, we should pass it on. #VisionofLove

Having returned from my sojourn at Scout Camp, which I have documented before, I return my focus to the #VisionofLove production.  If you are looking for a scout camp review, I may do another sometime in the future.  I am working on a website where I can sort these out a little better for access, but for now, if that is what you are looking for, just scroll on down, they are still there.

Okay, tonight would have been a performance of the Vision of Love pageant in the Families are Eternal production series.  Unforeseen schedule issues have prevented that.  No worries, #VisionofLove continues, in an audio booklet format.  Tonight we spent some time recording, and I wanted to talk about a couple of the songs.

Which first?  That is easy.

Our Father in Heaven has a plan for us.  It was a plan that we willingly agreed to before we came to earth.  We knew the risks, we knew that God would provide a way for us to return to Him.  The Light of Christ is given to all men, (and women, of course).  This Light, sometimes referred to as our conscience, guides us to do the right thing.  As we follow that light, our lives change.  God sent his prophets to give us direction, to point the way.  We are taught God's Eternal Laws.  These laws don't change through time.  Sometimes we see them as barriers to being "happy".

"Why are they all about what I can't do?" you might ask.

They aren't.  Ask yourself this: Am I freer for following the law, or by doing what I want?  Whether it is man's law, or God's law, the answer is the same.  Breaking the law limits our freedom.  Following the law keeps us free.  Following God's Law affords us the same protection.  God implores us as our Father in Heaven, to obey the commandments.  He won't make us, it is a choice we have to make, and make, and make.  Will we be perfect at it?  No, but that isn't required.  God also provided the way for us to overcome sin, so that through His Son, Jesus Christ, we can be made perfect before our Father.

The first song is, appropriately enough, "Keep the Commandments".  The text is by Jan Dowdy, and the music is by Larry Beebe.

Keep the Commandments
Live God's laws, and you will then be happy
Show him you love him in all you do,
And there you will find joy

Obey his word and let him know you care
Then do as you should, and serve your fellow man

Keep the Commandments
You will find your faith in God renewing
You can be what you want to be
If you will live his law

Very simple.  As always, God covenants with his people.  If we keep our part, by keeping the commandments, God promises that we will be rewarded by: our faith being renewed, being happy, and finding joy in our lives.

Another song that we recorded "Help Me to Know", is a plea from a child to his parent.  Sometimes we face trials that cause us to question whether God exists, and if He does, does He even know that we exist as individuals?  Life is not meant to be easy, we are sent here to learn and to grow.  Sometimes life pulls us down so much that we just beg to know that we matter and that God knows what we are going through.  This song was written by Alice Beebe, and the music again is by her husband Larry  You can check out their website here:  hymns.com

Lord, help me to know thee
Help me to learn of thy great love
Strengthen and guide me
Help me to live Thy laws

Help me to find the path that I should take
I want to live
In thy light forever more
Help me Lord to know of my worth
Help me to find my way

Help me to learn
Help me to know

Reading the printed lyrics does no justice to the arrangements that go with them.  Just a couple of glimpses into the #VisionofLove  God's plan for us.
