For those who are not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, let me explain that temple worship is unique and sacred.  Only members in good standing are allowed to enter the temples after they are dedicated.  We believe that temples are literally the House of the Lord. We commune with God on a different level in the temple than in a church.  For more information on temples, check the following link:

I am not sure what the fascination I have for the Ogden Utah Temple has been.  I had never seen it until Sarah and I had attended in 2008.  Since, I went in 2011, just weeks before it was to be closed for this complete inside out renovation.  It was the fourth temple that I attended that day.  I had brought Esther out to visit BYU-I, and she stayed with Callie.  From Rexburg to Idaho Falls, and then to Logan, ending my temple attending day in Ogden.  Now, three and a half years later, the temple is set to be rededicated.

I am not sure of why it seemed so important to go to the open house.  I had spent the last week recovering from some viral infection, and was left weakened and exhausted at the end of each day of work.  We (Esther and I) met Callie in Pocatello, and left for the open house.  My eyes have been extremely sensitive to light lately, probably part of the infection, but after a prayer, we were blessed with the overcast skies all the way to Ogden.

The tour started in the tabernacle where we watched a short video, and then we were taken to the temple.  There were ushers all along the way, but no individual guides to explain each part.  The tour did last about 45 minutes, and was very impressed with the craftsmanship in the temple, but wonder, for example if the font is the original, and how the ordinance rooms tracked.  I guess in a couple of months I will have to go down and check it out.

I have always enjoyed, and found great beauty in the style of the original temple.  I enjoyed even more watching people struggle to not use words like "hideous", or "ugly" in describing the House of the Lord.  Fortunately, the Provo Utah Temple still stands as a monument to that architecture.  At least until the Provo City Center Temple is complete.

We stopped by my son Brandon's place in Logan on the way home.  We had brownies, and lunch.  Brandon and Jessi both seem well, other than the typical discomforts associated with pregnancy.  It was nice to visit them, and to see them making their way. It was great to be with Callie, and Brandon, and Jessi, as well as spending the weekend with Esther, who will soon be leaving for KC.  Perhaps that was the purpose of the trip, to understand the togetherness of families.
