MUST READ!
As I was reading the give and take on the probable inevitability of the Supreme Court ruling, I had an idea, and it is an idea that people should spread, and share.
As I have stated previously, based on the ruling in the last case before the court regarding gay marriage, the Supreme Court should rule that states have the right to decide the definition of marriage. I said should, but as the world turns, and the media continues to advance the popularity of gay marriage, I suspect that the court will overturn the gay marriage bans in this country. So you might be saying how is the media advancing the popularity of gay marriage? I return the favor with a question. Have you heard the media say that gay marriage is legal in 37 states as evidence? If so, then did you know that while that is true, only 11 states have approved gay marriage by the voice of the people. The others had it overturned by an unelected and unaccountable judge.
As I said, I suspect that the court will override its previous decision and override the voice of the people.
This is the perfect out for the Court, it is the perfect solution for the situation. It is one that if people are objective, they will look and see that it is the obvious answer. We have heard about the separation of church and state. I have written on this, and the solution to me seems obvious; Marriage, as I have written previously, is a religious rite and as such, it has no place in the public square. Any who support the separation doctrine should be jumping up and down saying "You are right!" and "Why is a court deciding on how marriage is defined?"
The solution?
THE COURT STRIKES DOWN ALL MARRIAGE/WEDDING STATUTES IN THE STATES, AND FEDERALLY! If states want to come up with contracts between people to replace marriage, they can. If churches want to have gay marriage, then they can, if they don't, then as the church Minister/Pastor/Priest/Bishop is not acting on behalf of the law, they can continue to follow their doctrine. No more argument, no more contention, and by the way, it restores marriage to the sacred realm for which it was intended.
I know. That solution makes sense. If only...
