The Book of Mormon

A little paperback book came to me a couple of months ago.  Blue, very inexpensive, cost-wise.  the challenge was to read it, to note the "gems" that I found in it, and to prayerfully consider to whom I should give it.

I have looked at it on and off since I got it.  I have read it, a little.  Don't confuse that with my personal reading (of which I don't do enough).  I have been thinking about it.  The missionaries have asked about it.  Of course, they have asked if I had thought on anyone to give it to.  Yes, I had, and no I hadn't come up with anyone.

Of course, if you have read here before, you know that that is always the challenge.  My circle of interaction is extremely small.  And if you are asking about that circle outside of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, then smaller still.

But I haven't forgotten the book.  In fact, tonight, I picked it up, and started reading, in earnest, feeling that I would know what I should do with that book.  And now I do.

While I am sharing the generalities of this personal experience, I will not get specific.  I don't know why I should give the book to whom I am planning on giving it.  I don't know if it will have an impact on them or not.  That is the thing about agency.  I can choose to act, or not.  I can give the book, including my testimony with it, and continue to pray for that individual, which, by the way, I have done for months. And they can do with it what they will.

This weekend I will have the chance to attend the Stone Church, to watch Messiah.  Next week,  Saints the world over will get on line, go to their local buildings, turn on the TV, (if they live where it is broadcast), or go to Salt Lake to attend the General Conference of the Church.  There, we will listen to our prophet, apostles, and other authorities of the church and to be taught the message that God would have for us in these times.  It is one of the beauties of continued revelation, to know that the heavens are open, and that God is aware of each of us.

True, he teaches us through these leaders, but he knows us as individuals, and knows our pains, and sufferings.  God's son, Jesus Christ, felt every pain that has ever been felt, from Adam and Eve being driven from the Garden of Eden, to the pain and suffering to body and spirit that occurs each day.  Knowing that He knows is a tremendous blessing.

While I am preparing my special Book of Mormon for a specific individual, if you are interested, I would be glad to help you out.  or you can check out mormon.org  By the way, the Easter outreach, entitled "Prince of Peace" will be rolled out on the same site on March 31st.

Easter is upon us.  Not only do we stand in awe at the sacrifice that so willingly was performed by our Savior, Jesus Christ, but also His resurrection, and the promise that that gives to all of us.  He Lives!  What more needs to be said?
