December 7, 1941, a day that will live in Infamy. How will yours be? #LIGHTtheWORLD

Seventy Five years ago, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, drawing the United States into World War II.  A war that literally spanned the globe.  Hundreds of millions of people with their lives directly impacted.  An attack that its architect knew would doom his homeland, and yet out of duty to country and to his Emperor, planned and executed it. This is very important to understand.

While I know that it is extremely unlikely that the actions that I take will impact more than a handful of people, I have come to realize that it is those small interactions, replayed billions of times the world over every day, by billions of people, that make a lasting difference.  It doesn't matter whether we pay attention or not, the mere actions we take do ripple across the world.

So much hatred in the world. So much fear.  So much anger.  It was these emotions that resulted in such destruction.  But what can I do?  What difference can I make?

Right now, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is sponsoring the #LIGHTtheWORLD initiative.  I have written about it, and will continue to periodically write about different  things that I am doing,   The LDS Church has challenged that during these 24 days leading up to Christmas, we find ways to serve.  Serving others was the life of the Savior Jesus Christ.  He served those immediately around him.  His mortal ministry impacted thousands.  His eternal mission impacts every creation and every person that has ever lived, whether they know it or not.

#LIGHTtheWORLD  visit mormon.org .

By clicking on the site, you will NOT be guaranteeing the Mormon Missionaries to show up at your house (unless you want).  A wonderful video will introduce you to #LIGHTtheWORLD.  You can access a calendar highlighting different ways the Savior served, and examples of how you can as well.  How does a Jewish carpenter that lived 2,000 years ago impact billions?  Through those that follow him.

Does it hurt to look?

Will you #LIGHTtheWORLD?

When you go to bed tonight, and every night, ask yourself: "Will my day go down as a day of infamy, or can I feel that the difference I made was positive?"

Because make no mistake, you impacted others.  The question is. how?
