#LIGHTtheWORLD Building people up.

As the Savior lifted those whose bodies were disfigured from sin, and gave hope to all around him, we have the same opportunities.  Will our actions ripple across generations, centuries, and continents?  As individuals, probably not.  But here is the thing.  If we each lift one person, then it certainly can span continents, and have an impact not just today, but the future as well.

How can we lift people?  It is so incredibly easy, that most are probably doing it, they just haven't connected their words and actions to doing as the Savior would do.  Here are some things that maybe you do.

Smile at people you meet.

Say thank you for actions on your behalf.

Commit a random act of kindness.

Give a compliment.

These are so simple, and used to be very basic common courtesy.  Maybe still?

Of course there is so much more that is done, and that we can do.  people serve selflessly.  They seek out ways to serve.  We all do our own thing.

Today, I relinquished the management of the facility to my successor.  While I have two days remaining, I now look on what I have done.  I hope that I have made the facility better.   I have found that people will either live up to, or down to the expectations set for them.  I choose to lift.  I expect, as a steward of the flying public, perfection in the service we provide.  It is too important to expect less.

As the choir director, I realize that all do not have that perfect voice.  But when we join our voices together, singing with spirit, we create praise that is so much greater than what any of us could do on our own.  I cannot begin to describe how I feel when I see in their eyes, and hear in their voices that they get the message of the music.  Even writing this, I can feel the joy.

Why?  Because when we work to lift others, we are the hands of the Savior.  It is He who lifts.  All we do is provide the medium.

I have had the assignment of writing letters for those families that do not desire contact with the church.  I get no response from them, but send the letters, none the less.  Who knows but maybe receiving a Christmas card will soften a heart?

Can I give a tribute to my wife Sarah?  I would not be who I am, had it not been for her.  She encouraged me to join the chorale.  She encouraged me to get into management.  She supported me when I moved here to Twin.  She lifts so many, without asking for anything in return.  Where would I be without her?  How do I repay her?  Can't.
